All Hands on Deck

We’re going to need all hands on deck for the Gatherin’. That’s why we’re launching our Volunteer Programme to provide critical human resource support to the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) and the Parish Organising Committees (POCs) to ensure the successful delivery of We Gatherin’ 2025 events and activities. The programme includes the provision of training in the areas of customer service, event planning and management, communications and health and safety best practices.  A handbook will support the training that volunteers will receive as part of the programme.

Our team will work with an estimated one hundred fifty (150) volunteers to assist with administrative activities, onsite planning assistance and assist with the conduct of primary research that will seek to assess the impact of We Gatherin’ events and activities during 2025.

All interested parties should contact [info]

Community Projects

From parish to parish, We Gatherin’ around projects focused on our people. A diverse and vibrant calendar of events will be planned by Parish Organising Committees (POCs), private promoters, and community organisers to foster unity, celebrate tradition, and drive economic activity.

This includes a wide sphere of events and activities. For example competitions in road tennis, cricket, football, dominoes, draughts, culinary arts and performing arts.

The aims of the parish activities will be to:

  1. heighten community spirt;
  2. increase the visibility of iconic aspects of the parishes;
  3. boost participation in community-based initiatives and projects; and
  4. expand new economic opportunities that could lead to revenue-generation and wealth creation and
  5. Encourage community give back

Donations and Contributions

As Bajans we always got to look out for one another. That’s why philanthropic efforts will be a key component of We Gatherin’ 2025. Led by The Ministry of Labour, Social Partnership and Third Sector Relations in collaboration with the Ministry of Health & Wellness, the Ministry of Finance, Economic Affairs and Investment and the Office of the Attorney General, easy and efficient mechanisms for charitable donations will be established.

The main feature of these efforts will be a digital portal with a parish catalogue of projects in need of assistance – focusing on health and wellness, education and community-based sustainable development initiatives which allows Barbadians at home and throughout the diaspora to contribute financially and/or pledge time commitments, in-kind and technical support to specific projects.

The beneficiaries of these donations and contributions will be local Barbadians in need, who would be more than grateful for your support.

Diaspora Involvement

Engaging with Bajans over and away is critical to the success of We Gatherin’ 2025. That is why we encourage you to ‘Come long home!’ Active involvement with the diaspora will encourage collaboration and leverage the diverse skills and resources of the diaspora to enrich local projects and initiatives. This approach will strengthen connections within Barbadian communities at home and abroad, while working together towards shared goals.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade and its missions will facilitate diaspora mapping as a key aspect of community engagement within We Gatherin’ 2025.

Residents in Barbados, diaspora communities with ties to specific parishes, local community groups, organizations, and businesses within each parish, Government agencies, schools, and religious institutions at the parish level and Media outlets, influencers, and content creators representing all parishes will be mobilised to achieve the following key objectives:

  1. Create enthusiasm and excitement among diverse Barbadian communities for We Gatherin’ 2025.
  2. Encourage active and sustained engagement and participation from January to December 2025.
  3. Cultivate a sense of unity, pride, and inclusivity for the Barbadian culture and heritage.
  4. Personalise engagement and enhance outreach.
  5. Gather relevant information to support diaspora mapping, investment opportunities and philanthropic efforts.
