Speightstown Alive, a key event in St. Peter’s We Gatherin’ celebrations, was a vibrant showcase of Barbadian heritage. The seaside town buzzed with activity, featuring historical tours, roadside vendors, and artists capturing its essence. Traditional games like potta and warri added to the lively atmosphere, while early entertainment came from the Ward Brothers on steelpan and keyboard. A roving steel band kept energy high throughout the day. The evening parade, featuring traditional Barbadian characters such as Mother Sally, stilt men, and the shaggy bear, brought the streets to life with the rhythmic sounds of the tuk band.
